Background Story :
I had been looking out for a decent broadband service after moving out from previous place and submitting my old awesome pal BSNL broadband. Now first thing I did after moving to new place (Domlur to be specific) is reach out to Airtel guys for a new shiny broadband connection. Have been hearing lots of good things about them from friends, so Airtel was a obvious choice to go for. Called them up, someone came, took money in advance(1300) and mind you he inspected area near my home that connections were available. After taking the docs and money, he left giving me assurance that the net will be up in max 15 days. So, I waited and waited and waited, nothing happend, so I called up Airtel cusomter support on 14th day. To my dismay, they told me that no more connections were available in that area and they will refund my money through check(which I still have to recieve) . I wanted to give earful to that guy on phone, but it wouldn’t have helped in anyway.
So back to square one, even after getting those 3.1 mbps offering USB modems afterwards, was still not happy after being spoiled by those amazing (real 2mbps) speed I used to get from my BSNL connection. Not that those USB connections floating around are bad, its just that they tend to connect/disconnect often which really makes the whole experince just irritating.
Found “YOU” :
Since I moved out to the new place, there had been a flyer attached on the gate infront of my house of something called “YOU Broadband” who where offering 2mbps unlimited plan for about Rs 999 with no FUP, considering I have been paying lot more for something like this on BSNL, I thought it to be a some kind of sham and kept ignoring it. Some pretty bad reviews on net didn’t help either. Not until one day, I was pretty fed up with the USB dongle net now and was really looking out for something fast and good. So, called up the no. of the flyer thinking how bad it could be.
The guy on the phone answered pleasantly(it was somewhere around 9.30 pm) and we agreed to meet next day morning to collect docs and stuff. Next day guy showed up at the time promised(around 11 am), took my docs and money it was Rs 2049 in total[500 modem deposit(refundable), 999 one month rental and some 550 installation charges which he told me only comes with the 2mbps plan(strange but true)]. Now he told me that I will be getting my connection by that day’s evening, it came really as a surprise, since every other broadband connection out there takes around 5-15 days for installation. I thought he was just speaking the things he had been told by superiors to tell to new customers. Anyways keeping in mind that this whole process will take 3-4 days, I came back to office.
Surprise “YOU” :
While working in office that day, at around 4pm I got a call from uknown number, on the other side it was the “YOU” broadband guys which came to setup my connection. It really came as a surprise that they were actually going to fix up a connection in one day flat.Since my office is pretty near to my home I was there in like 5 mins(don’t worry about what I told in office to go early). Now those guys were done with the setup in about 20 mins and left saying that I would be getting my credentials for login in evenning via call. I believed them, considering they have been true to their word till now and starting waiting to get my hands on a decent net experience after long time.
Starting Hiccups “YOU” might face :
It was around 8.30pm that day when I thought enough was enough, where are my damn credentials, its all here, the wires, the connection but no login/pass to start the connection. Called up some guy from that team who came to setup the connection, poor guy might be going home but he promised me to make some calls.I got my credentials in about 30 mins after that, yes nice service right there. Now i started using those logins to connect, it didn’t work. After giving them like 50 tries of different combinations which included switching modem on/off 10 times, nothing worked. Was tired, thought this is not supposed to happen in day and slept. Next day called up their customer care and told to them fix that connection of mine, they launched the usual service request. Left early again that day(by early I mean not late), thinking that atleast today the connection might have regained connectivity. Reached home, gave it a try ,it didn’t work. Frustrated, I gave the “YOU” guy a call again, he said some server issue something and told me to try again in like 20 mins. Right what else I could do…..

20mins passed, gave it 5 more(just in case), tried to connect again. And it WORKED, finally, phew.. First site I visited speedtest.net for obvious reasons to check how much speed I was getting. It clocked around 1.6mbps download, around .8mbps upload. These were the figures I have been looking out for. In 5 mins I got a call from their manager asking me that all was working fine and he gave me his tech team lead no. as well to call in any issues. Its been around 2 weeks I have been using the service and it never went down, never gave me slow speeds and its working just as expected. And that is awesome.
So if you are looking for some great net connection sans the big guys(Airelt, BSNL etc), YOU broadband can be your best bet provided its existence in your area. Feel free to comment on your YOU telecom broadband experience, its only “us” who can make them better with our responses.

I saw their ad for 12Mbps speed. Thinking of trying it out, not sure what to expect though.
You Broadband is all of that (reasonable to respond when first selling you the connection but try getting any help from their call center or even senior staff if you later have a problem and you tear your hair out), including landing up at your place without any prior intimation. But they are a complete fraud outfit…try their 10/12 Mbps plans & you will find out why I call them a fraud. Daytime speeds are 25-30% night time its less than 10% and you can call them, write to them, beg or scream they wont fix it because they have no intention/ability to fix it.

What kind of connection do they provide? wired, adsl, wimax?

i have been using connection it is good, 10/12 Mb plans are good 1102/- for 12 Mb unlimited plans,
It will not work contineoulsly for more than 10 Days. Please do not go for this when they tell the speed. Really all those are for only name shake. Even service is very very bad. But they will ask you to pay as prepaid and you have to pay it on that day. If service stopped for 10 days, they will not even give grace period. Very very bad. PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS do not go for this in BANGALORE.

i have been using airtel since a year (koramangala bangalaore)
its superb 30 gb 2mbps plan at around Rs1400.
everything is fine.
but considering what you broadband offers and at low price
should i change ?
please help me out.
