PepsiCo's Social Vending System is a state-of-the-art networked unit that features full touch screen interactive vending technology, enabling consumers to better connect with PepsiCo brands right at the point of purchase. A prototype of the Social Vending System will debut at the National Automatic Merchandising Association's One Show in Chicago, April 27-29. You need to select a drink enter the recipient’s name, mobile number and personalized text message with a code redeemable at another vending machine. Consumers can personalize the message with a short video recorded by the machine. There’s also an option to send a free beverage to a stranger.

Sharing widget AddThis, which is installed on more than 7 million domains and reaches more than one billion users per month with more than 300 services, released an infographic with some interesting statistics about about our sharing habits. 44% of shares occur through Facebook, which was 33% last year ('Like' button, no doubt). Shares over Gmail increased by 395%, outpacing StumbleUpon, Facebook and Twitter. Shares via MySpace and Friendster dropped 20% and 31% respectively.
