Aircel has officially announced that it will bring the iPhone 4S to India on Friday 25 November 2011 and, according to a report by The Times of India, it is strongly rumoured that the other official iPhone carrier in India, Bharti Airtel, will be joining in on the festivities with a launch of its own. Diaspora co-founder Ilya Zhitomirskiy dies at 22

Ilya Zhitomirskiy, the co-founder of the open-source Facebook alternative Diaspora, has died at the age of 22. The cause of death is not yet publicly known. Zhitomirskiy, along with Dan Grippi, Maxwell Salzberg and Raphael Sofaer, created the open-source software as part of a project while they were students at New York University. Diaspora was created as a response to Facebook’s controversial privacy changes in 2010. The team was able to raise $200,000 on Kickstarter to launch the project. RIP Ilya

NHK and BBC have confirmed it will be available for public screenings in super Hi-Vision 7,680 x 4,320 resolution (16 times the number of pixels of HDTV,) next year during the 2012 London Olympics. Adobe launches “Project Adthenticate” to test online ads

Adobe is launching a hosted service for online ad testing which it’s calling Project Adthenticate. Available to publishers, rich media vendors and creative agencies, the service will help to test, validate and optimize ads based on the IAB’s (Interactive Advertising Bureau) 2011 Rich Media Creative Guidelines. These guidelines provide a list of requirements for online advertising units, including things like maximum frame rates, max CPU usage, length of in-ad video play and more.
