It’s a question that faces all parents: How do I let my kids be kids while still keeping them safe? For parents who worry about their children’s whereabouts when they leave the house — there’s an app for that. Amber Alert GPS introduced a device and corresponding app Wednesday that allows parents to rest easy when the kids are away. The new device boasts GPS technology, AT&T connectivity and a corresponding online portal.
This protection package features unique alerts for your child’s safety. Not only can users track their child’s whereabouts through GPS and zoning, they also have access to a two-way calling function as well as an SOS button. Want to be able to contact your kid sans cell phone? This is the device for you.
Amber Alert GPS has also integrated the National Sex Offender database. Whenever your child is within 500 feet of a registered offender’s home, you will be alerted via text and/or email. The free Amber Alert Parent app brings all of these features to your fingertips. The app is currently available exclusively to Android users, but an iOS version is in the works.
Other Amber Alert GPS device features include:
Zone Alerts – Zone alert allow you to set boundaries around areas that your child frequents, such as home, school or a friend’s house, and the system notifies you when your child enters or exits those zones.
Speed Alerts – Amber Alert GPS’ speed alert allows you to determine how fast the device and your child are going and to set speed-based alerts so you’re notified whenever a set speed is exceeded.
Predator Alert – Amber Alert GPS also ties into the national sex offender database allowing you to be instantly alerted if your child gets within 500 feet of a registered child predator’s residence.
SOS Button – Should an emergency arise, an SOS button allows your child to alert you instantly and directly, letting you know they’re in trouble or scared. Parents then have the option of talking to their child directly through the device to determine what is wrong.
Voice – The voice feature allows you to call the device and list to the surroundings of your child and be assured that they’re okay. By pressing the voice button, your child can call you so that you can listen in.
